INDUSTRY AWARENESS PROGRAMME ON CLIMATE CHANGE - MITI

On 06/04/2017, we were invited to attend the Industry Awareness Programme On Climate Change which was held efficiently at the Perdana Hall, Level 1, Menara MITI... the event was participated by various sectors from the associations namely FMM, MICCI and a few other associations including selected companies from all kind of industries as well as the media coverage...

The programme was a one-day event which is considered fruitful within its context because all of the papers that were being presented gives a handful knowledge towards the participants... there were 8 papers being discussed with experienced presenters namely from the MITI, Suruhanjaya Tenaga, Malaysian Automotive Institute, United Nations Industrial Development Organization and UNITEN... the talks given were extremely important for us as an industrial practitioner as well as citizen of the nation... part of the information given was that we (within the invited industry) will be part of the drafted items to be further discussed and finalized in view of the energy management's direction throughout the country as a support and commitment towards the betterment that we could actually perform in order to act on the climate changes...

The programme started at 9:00 AM upon arrival of the KSU... the talks which were delivered full-heartedly by the presenters had given us some ideas on the importance of every single one of us in supporting the cause... as an example, we could actually help in promoting good energy management by performing just simple steps:
1) Change your bulbs. Replacing regular incandescent light bulbs with compact fluorescent (CFL) or LED bulbs is a big energy saver. Incandescent bulbs release 98% of their consumed energy through heat, while CFL and LED bulbs are much more energy efficient and last several times longer...
2) Turn off the lights. Utilize natural light source whenever you are able to do so...
3) Unplug any appliances that aren't in use. Do not let your electrical appliances be within the standby mode when not in use...
4) Embrace natural light. Let the sun shine in... open up your window...

Further to that, we have also listened to the electricity breakdown usage within the country which ultimately was part of the energy management within the entire system... we were also being informed on the energy consumption analysis as well as how we could actually assist towards obtaining sustainable energy for the future in the capacity of an industrial practitioner and consumer... what a hectic brain traffic day dude... but we love it because it enriched our understanding towards the importance of being an energy concerned mind... we have to think not only for ourselves but further for a better world for our future generation... if you were there yesterday, you will be surprised on the numbers of landfills within our nation of 23 millions of population!!!

We then learned about the GHG (Green House Gas) including the GHG Protocol as a whole... so what is a GHG Protocol?...
The Greenhouse Gas Protocol (GHG Protocol) is the most widely used international accounting tool for government and business leaders to understand, quantify, and manage greenhouse gas emissions. A decade-long partnership between the World Resources Institute (WRI) and the World Business Council for Sustainable Development (WBCSD), the GHG Protocol is working with businesses, governments, and environmental groups around the world to build a new generation of credible and effective programs for tackling climate change.
It serves as the foundation for nearly every GHG standard and program in the world - from the International Standards Organization to The Climate Registry - as well as hundreds of GHG inventories prepared by individual companies. (credit to the Greenhouse Protocol website)

The list go on with the talk which focused on the automotive industry... a number of new ideas were being highlighted and discussed as well... we can say that it was a day full of informative discussion where we ended the programme by having 4 LDK (Latihan Dalam Kumpulan) groups discussing on various topics... our thoughts were discussed with the presenters and the experience was great!!!

We had a great eatery session but alas... the telephone battery was not being good... we had to charge the telephone all along... anyway, the foods were from the Wadi Hadramawt Restaurant...
